At the time of death, call us right away regardless of the time of day.

Death in an Institution: When the death occurs at a hospital or nursing home, the medical staff should take care of all necessary legal steps. You just need to notify the medical staff that Matthew Genereux at the Longwood Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. The care staff may have you sign a release authorizing us to began the process. It is at this time you call or have the institution give us a telephone call, indicating that everyone has had enough time and are ready for us to remove the body and bring them to the funeral home.

Anticipated Death at Home: Today, more people with terminal illnesses are electing to die at home under the care of Hospice. In this situation, you just need to notify Hospice that Matthew Genereux and the Longwood Funeral Home is the funeral home of your choice. At that point, they will take care of all necessary legal requirements. Many times when someone has a terminal illness, the family will elect to make prearrangements, so that they are not overwhelmed with the many important decisions at the time of death.

Unanticipated Death at Home or Elsewhere: In these situations, immediately call 911. The police and emergency medical personnel will then determine the appropriate steps to be taken. Often, the police can release the deceased directly to our funeral home.

Death out of state: If the death occurs outside of Pennsylvania, you should call Longwood Funeral Home of Matthew Genereux at 610-388-6070. We will coordinate with a local funeral director at the place of death. Because of my funeral service experiences throughout the country, I have developed a large network of contacts who will assist in the arrangements. This action will save families thousands of dollars by having our firm make the arrangements directly as a professional courtesy.
