To All,

Al Webber and I first crossed paths when I was a twelve year old scout with Unionville troop 22, circa 1958. Al invited the whole gang out to the hill in back of his place for an evening sky show. We lit a campfire, looked through his telescope and asked a hundred questions, as he explained the night sky. It was awesome!

I never forgot that experience and in 1986, after joining the Delaware Astronomical Society, I was overjoyed to find him as a member. I had many opportunities to listen to his lectures and mini-talks about a myriad of astronomical subjects. One of his favorite quips was that he was basically a
"gee-whiz" amateur astronomer. I liked that moniker and use it often in reference to myself and in recollection of an inspirational friend who will be genuinely missed.

Sincerest Condolences,
Tom DeMott

"Big Al" garnered a corner in our hearts when he won Sadie's over at the Bates Reunion Weekend in 2008. He was a very special addition to our family of friends and we thoroughly enjoyed receiving his phone calls, emails and all the wonderful insights and advice that came with them. May he rest in peace and may all his friends and family cherish the memories of a truly great man.

Dear Members of Mr. Webber's family:
Although our paths did not cross after I left DuPont Plastics at the Station over 40 years ago, I remember Mr. Webber with fondness.  He was such a kind and "gentle" man and I was honored to have worked with him.  He deserved a long life and satisfying retirement.  Please accept my sincere sympathies at this sad time.

My thoughts and prayers are being sent even though I will be unable to attend the memorial service.  I appreciate all the pictures and memories I have of Alfred over the years.  I always looked forward to the birthday card he sent me every year on my birthday. The family is sending their thoughts and prayers.
