Edith C. Pesce was born in Shaw, MS on November 6, 1928.  She died in St. Louis, MO on November 13, 2017.  Her parents, Giuseppe and Elisa Cuicchi, were from Serra San Quirico, a beautiful Italian town in the province of Le Marche.  Edith was the youngest of their nine children, all raised in the United States in an extended family household in which Italian and English were spoken.

After marrying her husband Joseph in 1947, Edith moved to his home town of Kennett Square, PA.  Edith and Joseph raised their three children in Kennett Square and embraced their six grandchildren with great warmth and love whenever they visited.  Edith nurtured not only her husband, children and grandchildren, but also shared in caregiving for her mother-in-law Adelaide for many years.  Edith was a devout Catholic, a wonderful cook, and an avid gardener.  She was blessed with an ability to draw and a beautiful singing voice.  Edith lived a life guided by her faith in God, her belief in people’s goodness, and her sweet, generous nature.  She taught those close to her how to face life’s challenges with a positive, hope-filled attitude.

Edith was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2015 and by her eight siblings between 1993 and 2015.  She is survived by her three children:  Robert J. Pesce, M.D. of Tampa, FL, Dolores Pesce Wiley, Ph.D. of St. Louis, MO and her husband Bill, and Joseph M. Pesce of Kennett Square, PA and his wife Diane; six grandchildren: Jennifer Pesce, M.D., Christina Pesce, Robert Pesce, Jr., Nicole Pesce Fragale, Lisa Pesce, and Helen Julitta Pesce Wiley; her sister-in-law Frances Pesce Lovisa of Merritt Island, FL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
