Gloria L Cassel, age 89 of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania entered Heaven’s gates on on Thursday, April 21st after a lengthy battle of congestive heart failure at Pocopson Nursing Home.  She was the beloved wife of the late Clyde R. Cassell, Jr.

Born on March 14, 1927 in Philadelphia, Gloria was one of 9 children.  She was the daughter of the late Charles C. Becker and the late Catherine Pagden Becker.

Gloria was the life of all family gatherings.  A consummate mother and homemaker, Gloria was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.  She also loved to watch food and cooking channels.  She was also a talented singer and participated in many shows.  Her love for writing led her on to writing many meaningful poems for everyone.  She pursued her goal of journalism and wrote articles for many local newspapers.  A highlight was interviewing Shirley Jones in New England in 1979.

Our beloved matriarch is survived by Lynn Cassell Price and her husband Dave Price, Clyde R. Cassell, III, the late Susan Cassell Bolf, Brenda Cassell Stewart and Kimberly Eve Cassell.  She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Catherine Cassell and her husband Brian Krauss, Chad Cassell, David Cassell, Gretchen Bolf Millington and her husband Doug Millington, Matthew Stewart, Kelly Bridwell, the late Jonathan Stewart, Lauren DeFeo and Dylan Richard Cassell.  Also survived by her great-grandchildren, Logan Krauss, Adeline Krauss, Mia Cassell, Bella Rosalita DeFeo and Kinsley Stewart.

A funeral service will be at 1:00PM on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  A graveside service will be at 2:00PM at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown.
