Linwood Hayes Boyer of West Grove and formerly of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania passed away on his birthday, Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was 94 years old.  Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Linwood was the son of the late Jonathan James Boyer and the late Sara Elizabeth Brown Boyer.

Linwood was pre deceased by his first wife, Clara Elizabeth Boyer in 1991.  He was the husband of Dell D. Walters-Gary-Boyer; father of Janice Phipps, the late Michael Boyer, Richard Boyer, Sharon Boyer, Terrance Boyer, Joshlyn Proctor, Charmaine Crawford and Charlene Lee; brother of the late Harold Boyer, the late Florence Mae Boyer-Hawkins and Alton Boyer.  Also survived by many grandchildren.

Linwood retired from Pepperidge Farm in 1988 after many years of service.  He was an Assistant Leader in the Boy Scouts of America, volunteered with Helping Hands thru Bethel AME Church, where he also served on their Trustee Board and participated in the choir and was an usher.  Linwood proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and was assigned to the USS South Dakota, earning the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

A viewing will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Thursday evening, August 10, 2017 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  The funeral service will be at 7:00PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.
