Mary Hazel Myers Smith

Mary Hazel Myers Smith passed away peacefully on

Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Pocopson Home.  She

was 99 years old. She has been a resident of Chester

County and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church

since 1958.

She was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Myers and

the late Alice Homan Myers, and the wife of the late Paul

H. Smith.  Her daughter, Patricia S. Powell and her

husband Wayne survive her.

She was born in the family home on the farm in

Pennsylvania Furnace and raised there with her siblings. 

She is also survived by granddaughters Susan Long (Rick)

and Sharon Schmieder (Jon); great-grand-children Nicole

Long, Alexis Long and Brock Schmieder.

Her brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul F. Myers (Miriam),

Claude H. Myers (Jane) and Dr. Charles L. Myers

predecease her.

Her sister Gladys Myers Durand (Nelson), and her sisterin-

law Miriam Myers, as well as numerous nephews, nieces

and cousins survive her.

Mary was raised in Centre County Pennsylvania, and

graduated from State College High School in 1934.  A few

years later, she graduated from the Thompson Business

College. Following her marriage to Paul Smith, a

marriage that lasted nearly 55 years, Mary was a mother

and homemaker.  She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, gourmet

cooking, deer hunting, fishing, and traveling.  She was a

member of the Kennett Square Golf Club, DuPont Country

Club and Westminster Presbyterian Church in West

Chester.

Memorial donations may be sent to Westminster

Presbyterian Church, 10 West Pleasant Grove Road, West

Chester, PA 19382 for their Adopted Friends Ministry.

Please note on donation "for Adopted Friends Ministry".

At her request, a private interment was held at Westminster

Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
