Danford Virginia Garr Obituary

Danford Virginia Michhel Jester Garr, 91 of Toughkenamon, PA, left this world peacefully and was taken home by our lord and savior on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Twin Pines Nursing Home in Chatham, PA.  She was the wife of William H. Garr.  They celebrated 56 years of marriage on August 3, 2018.  Born in Clifton Township, Ashe County, NC, she was the daughter of Robert Michael and Pearl Black Michael.

Danford will always be remembered as one of the strongest women in her family.  She has been known as keeping the family going and pushing to survive the best way you can.  In her passing she will be missed by all that had known her and had touched their lives.  “Dan”,  as some have known her, was blessed with a green thumb and the gift to  garden.  On many occasions, she had gardens that was so large that she gave some of the fresh vegetables that God had provided to those who needed it most.

We were all blessed to have her on this earth for 91 years.  She was always there when we needed her guidance, wisdom and means to provide for us, even when we didn’t realize we needed it.  She was a loving wife, mom, mom-mom, granny, Aunt Dank, Dan and friend who will be missed more than you know.  She has taught us what it means to live a simple, god fearing life, providing good works and asking for forgiveness when something didn’t work out.

Danford is survived her husband, William, her daughter Susan V. Jester Maldonado (Bonafacio) of Wytheville, VA, daughter-in-law Cynthia Jester of Avondale, PA, grandchildren Ray Jumper, Jr. (Angela) of Oxford, PA, Crystal Jester of Avondale, PA. Robert Oliveira (Wendy) of Elizabeth City, NC, Susie Kirby, Brittany Jo McKenzie, Jennifer Mimm and Charles Mimm all of Florida, Connie Mimm of Georgia and Danielle Mimm and Jessica Mimm of Virginia.  She was known as Granny to great-grandchildren, Emilee, David, Amaury, Ana, Olivia, William, Isabella, Caitlyn, Jacob, Joey, Robbie, Kristina, Ethan, Austin, Aiden, Harley and great-great grandson Mason.  Danford also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends that will miss her as well.  Danford was predeceased by her first husband, George Jester, her son Robert L. Jester and a grandson Robert D. Mimm.
