Joseph Boyle Obituary

Joseph E. Boyle of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, much loved husband, father of seven, grandfather of twelve, and great-grandfather of two, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. 

Joe was born in Harwood, PA on November 25, 1931 to Peter and Beatrice Boyle.  He graduated from Hazle Township High School, received his undergraduate degree from Bloomsburg State College where he played football and earned his Master’s degree from Penn State University. 

He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War at the Artillery and Guided Missile School at Fort Sill, OK.  Upon his return home, he married his wife, Sheila, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, beautiful memories, and a lot of kids! 

Joe began his professional career teaching Accounting at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.  In 1962 he began his career with the Kennett Consolidated School District retiring from his position as the Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations in 1993.  

Joe was a humble, generous, and fair man who treated everyone equally and without judgement.  He always rooted for the Penn State Nittany Lions Football team and told his kids there was nothing they could not accomplish if they wanted it badly enough and worked for it. 

Joe is survived by his wife, Sheila; his son, Joe and his wife, Lisa of Fenwick Island, DE.; daughter, Maureen McCauley and her husband, Greg of Chadds Ford; son, Sean and his wife, Sara of Westfield, MA.; daughter, Jeannie Boyle and her husband, Joe Longobardi of Chadds Ford; daughter, Katee Boyle and her husband, Robert Mojica of Chadds Ford; son, Daniel of Chadds Ford;  grandson, Gregory McCauley Jr. and his wife, Samantha of Chadds Ford; grandson, Michael McCauley of Greenwich CT.; grandson, Liam McCauley of Chadds Ford; grandson, Aidan McCauley of Chadds Ford; grandson, Brian Boyle of San Antonio, TX.; grandson, Sean Patrick Boyle of Westfield, MA.; grandson, Aidan Boyle of Westfield, MA; granddaughter, Maille Inish Mojica of Chadds Ford; grandson, Samuel Mojica of Chadds Ford; grandson, Forrest Mojica of Chadds Ford; grandson, Daniel Boyle of Dover, DE.; great-granddaughters, Remington McCauley and Piper Rose McCauley.   He is also survived by his sister, Ann Stasi of Yardley, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was predeceased by his son, Brian Boyle; grandson, Colin Boyle and siblings, Edward Boyle, John Boyle and Rose Palmer.

Visitation with the family will be from 9:00AM until 10:00AM with a Memorial Mass offered at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at St. CORNELIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.  Inurnment with United States Army honors will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
