Margaret I. Holcomb (Peggy), a lifelong resident of Rosedale, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on February 1, 2024, after a long illness.  She was predeceased by her husband Grover C. Holcomb, Sr. in June of 1973.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. Ironside and Emilie Buffington Ironside.

Peggy was born on November 10, 1927.  She was a 1945 graduate of the Kennett High School.  Upon graduation, she was employed in the Accounting Department of The DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware before she married Grover and began raising their six children.   When her children were older, she worked as the head cashier at Acme Markets on Mill Road in Kennett Square, retiring in 1994.  She was a lifelong member of The Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square.

Peggy was an accomplished seamstress, skilled in crocheting, knitting, crafting and making baby quilts for her grandchildren. She enjoyed regular trips to Lancaster County to purchase fabrics for her many projects and always enjoyed the drives to see the  seasonal changes to the Amish farms.

Peggy was a member of Longwood Gardens for many years.  She made regular visits to the gardens but took special delight in the annual Christmas display.

She is survived by five children:  Grover C. Holcomb (Gary) who was her devoted caregiver during her illness, Sandi M. Beitler (Joseph), Diane H. Fourney (Rick), Richard A. Holcomb (Carmen) and Joseph W. Holcomb.  She was predeceased in 1997 by her eldest daughter, Linda Holcomb Magargal.  She had 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Peggy is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn I. Schopfer (Walter) and Emilie I. Reynolds and one brother, James Ironside (Ellen).  She was predeceased by two brothers:  Joseph Ironside (Marie) and Donald Ironside (Pam).
