Michael Dubowy, loving husband of Susan, and proud father of Christine and Ryan, died at the age of 60 on January 23, 2019. He was married to Susan for 32 years, and he was dedicated to her and their children.
Michael was the family expert on botany. He created a garden oasis in the family’s backyard, and later in his life he enjoyed frequent long walks with Susan at Longwood Gardens.
He meticulously researched and planned what his family called “Epic Vacations.“ He took them to sites of breath-taking wilderness, as well as to destinations where they appreciated art and local cuisine. Although hiking was a favorite mode for seeing the sights, the carefully orchestrated vacations included travel by sea plane, canoe, trains, zip lines, ferry boats, and mountain gondolas.
He worked as a biochemist for Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics for as long as his health allowed. He had perseverance and determination which he applied to his work, as well as fighting cancer, even going to work with chemotherapy infusing from a “fanny pack”.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wilmington Friends School. Michael admired Quaker values and believed that the next generation will lead the world in a positive direction.
