Rosemary Lucas Obituary

Rosemary A. Lucas, age 91, passed away peacefully Monday, November 12, 2018, at her home in Jennersville, PA.  She is dancing in Heaven with her beloved husband, Bill.

Rosemary was the daughter of the late Thomas McCormack and the late Anna Scott McCormack of Albany, NY.  She attended business school and worked at W&LE Gurley Engineering Firm before meeting Bill on a blind date.  They married and moved to Wilmington, DE where Bill worked for the Atlas Chemical Company.  Rosemary then took a job at Ralston and Sutton Insurance Agency.  With Bill’s promotion to Mid-West sales director, Rosemary and Bill moved to Palatine, IL where they raised their five children.  After Atlas Chemical was taken over by ICI, the family was relocated to Hockessin, DE, where she volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels and Saint Francis Hospital.  Rosemary was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress and an expert craftswoman.  A collector of dolls her whole life, she was a member of the Brandywine Doll Club for many years.  She enjoyed Scrabble and crossword puzzles immensely.  Most importantly, she cherished family and instilled the importance of family in all of her children.

Predeceased by husband Bill, Rosemary will be dearly missed by her 5 children, Carol Dunn (Gary) of Elkton, MD; Nancy Davis-Best (Kevin) of Hockessin, DE; Bill Lucas (Marie Perkins) of Newark, DE; Tom Lucas (Susan Miller) of New Castle, DE; Scott Lucas (Randi) of Landenberg, PA; and her 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM.

Internment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date with her beloved husband, Bill.
