Sonya J. Thomas, age 87, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday morning, October 16, 2017.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania on December 7, 1929.  She was the daughter of the late Felix C. and the late Bessie J. (Thayer) Blancha.  A consummate homemaker, she had a passion for cooking and baking.  She also enjoyed painting and the arts.  Above all, Sonya was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and aunt who treasured time spent in the company of loved ones.

Mrs. Thomas was the beloved wife of the late Frank D. Thomas who passed away in 1988; loving mother of the late Debra J. Bressi, Gregory F. Thomas (Karen) of Newark, DE and Holly S. Thomas of Swarthmore, PA; grandmother of Heather Sizemore (David) of Ridley, PA, Nichole Holland (Timothy) of Ridley, PA, Stephanie Thomas of Hockessin, DE and Carly Thomas of Newark, DE; sister of the late Erwin B. Blancha, the late Susan R. Tallarico and Edward T. Blancha (Sandy) of Medford, NJ; beloved aunt of Steven V. Tallarico, Linda Tallarico, Scott Blancha, Todd Blancha, Kelly Blancha, Barry Blancha, Donna Marie Blancha, Mark Blancha and Tim Blancha.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Riddle Hospital, Bernadette (“Bunny”) Dugan and the Mainline Health Hospice Group for their dedicated and compassionate care of Sonya. 

A memorial service will be celebrated at 12:00PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  Visitation with the family will be from 11:00AM until 12:00PM at the funeral home.

A luncheon reception will follow the memorial service at the Mendenhall Inn (Mendenhall Room), 323 Kennett Pike, Mendenhall, PA.  Burial will be private.
