Obituary

Anne M. Krout of Radnor and recently of Kennett Square died peacefully on November 13, 2024 at Brandywine Living at Longwood.  She was 94 years old.

She was born on November 27, 1930 in New York, she was the daughter of the late John Ashley Merriman and Elizabeth Riddle Merriman of Sedgwick, Maine.

She is predeceased by her husband, John E. Krout and her son, Price Deal Heppe, Jr., of Almo Kentucky.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Brownback of Cochranville, PA; stepdaughter, Joanne Phillips of Brentwood NH; stepsons, Dr. John Krout of Ithaca, NY and Dr. Robert Krout of Galveston, TX; daughter-in-law, Maxie Happe of Almo Kentucky; grandchildren, Jesse Hughes of Landenberg, PA, Marshall Brownback of Phoenixville, PA, Price D. Heppe, III of Murray, Kentucky, Ashley Heppe of Raleigh, NC, Kayla Cathey of Lexington, KY and Donovan Phillips of Hollis, NH.  Also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren.

Anne married Price D. Heppe in 1952, lived in Strafford and had their two children.  They spent the summers in Little Deer Isle, Maine.  She later married John Krout in 1974 and they resided in Radnor, spent falls in France and wintered in Hope Town, Bahamas.  Anne loved to travel visiting Africa, Europe, South America, Central American and even white water rafted down the Snake and Salmon River with her grandson, Marshall.

Anne was a doer and could always be found volunteering and helping her communities while making lifelong friends.  She was a member of the Philadelphia Junior League where her love for music prompted her to join the Junior League Larks, a signing group that performed at various retirement communities around the Main Line and surrounding areas.  Anne served for 4 years on the hospitality committee for the Devon Horse Show that benefited the Bryn Mawr Hospital.  She was on the board of the Pennsylvania Ballet and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Merion Cricket Club, Acorn Club and Hope Town Sailing Club.  Her love for cooking and entertaining were evident in her many charities leading her to co-chair the committee that formed the Philadelphia Orchestra Cookbook as well as the Hope Town Sailing club committee that produced the cookbook Stand Ups and Sit Downs.

She will be remembered for her mischievous smile, her generosity and grace, and her love for entertaining and gathering with friends and family, her perfectly coiffed hair, signature red lipstick and manicured nails.

Friends and family are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1116 W. Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA.  A reception will follow at 1:00 PM at the Merion Cricket Club, 325 W. Montgomery Avenue, Haverford, PA.
