Betty Anne Silva
Anne Elizabeth Woodring Silva, known to all as Betty Anne, passed away on January 9, 2021. She was 88 years old. Betty Anne was the beloved wife of Alfredo Andres Silva, Sr. who passed away August 16, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia on July 23, 1932, Betty Anne was the eldest daughter of Albert J. Woodring and Ann Clay Woodring.She graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1950 and Gwynedd Mercy Junior College in 1952 with a Medical Secretarial degree. She traveled to Cuba in the summer of 1951 where she fell in love with her future husband of 62 years, Alfredo Andres Silva (Freddy). Betty Anne and Freddy became engaged on her birthday in 1956 and were married in November that same year at St Thomas of Villanova Chapel.
Betty Anne and Freddy had 8 children and 15 grandchildren: Children: Alfredo ASilva Jr.; the late David M Silva; Mark J Silva (Ana Espinoza Silva); James J Silva; Elizabeth “Nan” Silva (Flip Costarella); Peter T Silva (Rebecca A Silva); Steven P Silva (Kim Weis Silva); and Christopher R Silva (Sherry Ann Silva). Grandchildren: Damien Silva, Lacey Silva, Alejandro Silva, Clara Silva, Sofia Silva, Joel Silva, Jessica Valentin, Jeremy Silva, David Silva, Chelsea Heath, Samuel Silva, Luke Silva, Andrew Silva, Sarah Silva and Emily Silva. She was sister to Albert Joseph Woodring, Phyllis Clay Nobel and the late Mary Delores (Lorrie) Dagit.
Betty Anne loved traveling and had an adventurous life. Over the course of her lifetime she lived in 3 countries and 4 different states. Always on the go, her joy was organizing trips by land, sea or air for friends and family. She traveled to a multitude of national and international destinations including a 3 week national park camping trip at the young age of 65. She loved movies of all kinds, was a voracious reader and Scrabble player and could never get enough of sunshine or the ocean.
Making friends wherever she went, Betty Anne was involved in church and social groups including Roses in Winter and Red Hats. Generous by nature, she had an enduring and infectious positive outlook on life, and never hesitated to extend her heart and hands to anyone in need.
A visitation and Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford, PA. Visitation: 10:00 - 10:45 AM; Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM.

Betty Anne's children would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Christiana Hospital and Willow Tree Hospice for the excellent care they provided our wonderful mother with during her last days. We would also like to thank her many friends and staff at Westminster Place for the love, support and wonderful stories of Mom they provided during this difficult time.
