Anne Marie McCarthy (neé Ciotti), age 72, formerly a 50-year resident of Kennett Square, passed away on October 5, 2025, from cancer. Born in Wilmington, DE and raised in West Grove, PA, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale (Pat) and Eva Ciotti (neé Galena).
Anne Marie, attended Assumption BVM Elementary School (Saint Mary’s) and graduated from Padua Academy in 1971. She graduated summa cum laude from Duquesne University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in music therapy. On December 28, 1974, Anne Marie married Kevin McCarthy, with whom she had six children. Anne Marie retired from Kendal at Longwood in 2020, where she was a music therapist for twenty-five years. She served Saint Patrick Parish in Kennett Square for over fifty years, first as a volunteer organist and for the last twenty-one years as music director. Anne Marie was an accomplished organist who performed as an accompanist in several countries, including four times at the Vatican. In addition to her love of music and devotion to the church, Anne Marie was fond of Mickey Mouse, collecting music boxes, and she was an avid Phillies fan.
In addition to her husband, Anne Marie is survived by her sons, Kevin Jr. (Kathleen), and Michael, and her daughters, Mary, Kathleen (Matthew), Sheila (James), and Molly (Michael), and twelve grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Ciotti, and a granddaughter, Leah Ayers.
