Obituary

Barbara Mountain Belt of Kennett Square, PA, died on Friday, June 16th at Christiana Hospital in Newark Delaware. She was 58 years old.

Barbara was born in Washington DC in 1964.  A graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD, she studied music and vocal performance at Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Institute of Music, and at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. 

She married Don Belt in 1991. Through 32 years of marriage, they remained the love of each other’s lives.

Barbara was the light in every room she entered. She performed with several choral groups, taught piano and voice, and worked in fundraising at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The McDonogh School, The Kennett Symphony of Chester County, and most recently as Associate Director of Annual Giving and Donor Relations for the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her husband, Don; daughters, Sarah, Caitlin, and Rachel; parents, Ray and Mary Jo Mountain; her sister, Martha Mountain; her brother, David Mountain, and several nieces and nephews. She loved her family fiercely and dedicated herself to creating a dynamic and loving life with them.

A funeral service will be at 2:00PM on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester.  Burial will be private in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
