Barbara Ann Knoop

March 14, 1951 - March 28, 2025

There are people in this world whose love is so boundless it just feels like home. Barbara Ann Knoop was one of those people. She lived for her family, for the traditions she built, and for the simple joys that made life beautiful.

Born in Cohoes, NY on March 14, 1951, to the late Theresa and Thomas Scott, Barbara was the youngest sister to the late Patrick Denenny. She graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy in 1969 and earned her LPN from Albany School of Nursing.

In 1971, she married Peter Knoop, the love of her life and her partner in every adventure for 53 years. Together, they raised five children: Shannan, Theodore, Randolph, Robert, and Elizabeth who she built her life around. While motherhood came beautiful to her, one of the greatest joys in her life was being Mom Mom. Tyler, Veronica, Sebastian, Kylie, Penelope, Lennon, Hudson, and John Jefferey (JJ) were her world. Distance never stopped her from being present—she never missed a birthday, a graduation, or a special occasion. She never wanted to miss any of their games and made a point to see at least one game in person. When she couldn’t be there in person, she would watch on livestream, cheering just as loudly as if she were in the stands. She never let a phone call go unanswered and was always ready to drop everything to talk about the latest family news, a sporting event, or just a casual "Hi, Mom-Mom what's going on?"

Barbara orchestrated every summer vacation with her entire family where she planning a week by the ocean or lake to spend long summer days floating in the water, laughing, and watching her children and grandchildren enjoy the days all together in one space. These trips became treasured traditions, where memories and stories would be shared and laughed about for years, with an annual family photo hung to capture the year. Holidays weren’t just holidays; they were events filled with warmth, laughter, and, of course, her famous brownies, which were waiting on the counter for her loved ones the moment they arrived.

She and Peter shared a love for travel, quick to jump on a plane and explore Europe and the world, and always finding their way back to their favorite place, Kaua'i. When she wasn’t traveling, she found joy in her garden, where her nurturing touch helped flowers bloom as beautifully as the relationships she cultivated throughout her life.

Barbara's love for her family was her legacy. She lived with intention, never missing an opportunity to celebrate with her family, to show up, and be present for her family. Though she left the world unexpectedly, she leaves behind a family wrapped in the love and traditions she passed down. Husband Peter Knoop, sons Shanan Knoop and wife Tennille, Ted Knoop and wife Carolyn, Randy Knoop and wife Marlene, Bobby Knoop, and daughter Elizabeth Dudley and husband Jeff Dudley, and her eight grandchildren: Tyler Knoop, Veronica Knoop, Sebastian Knoop, Kylie Knoop, Penelope Knoop, Lennon Knoop, Hudson Knoop, and John Jeffery (JJ) Dudley. Her niece and nephews, Jimmy Denenny, Colleen Sanchez, and extended family.

Her spirit lingers in the stories they share, the laughter echoed at family gatherings, and the love she shared freely.
