Betty passed away peacefully on June 19. 2025. She was 90 years old, admired by many for her strength, humor, and care for others. Through every challenge life brought, Betty remained upbeat, embracing each moment with courage and grace.
Betty worked at Philadelphia Electric for 25 years as an executive secretary. She loved shopping for furniture, interior decorating, gardening, hosting the family for dinners, and enjoying her lunch dates with family and friends.
In 1954, she married John E. Devine (deceased) and started a new life together in Springfield, PA. They had seven children: Michael Devine and his wife, Debbie Devine, Janice Devine (former spouse, Alan Weissburg), James Devine and his wife, Aoy Devine, the late Eileen Devine, David Devine (former spouse, Suzie Devine, Cathy Gazzillo and her husband, Bryan and Betty’s most treasured child, Chrisine Devine; twelve grandchildren, James Devine, Jackie Flounders, John Devine, Paul Devine, Jane O’Connor, Paul Gazzillo, Marie Gazzillo, Leah Weissburg, Sharon Weissburg, Nathan Weissburg, Bryn Devine and Meridith Devine; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Devine, Jessica Devine and Hima Vaid.
A widow at age 37, Betty demonstrated tremendous strength and determination. She managed to find the positive and set a new path each day. In 1989, Betty married Alfred “Bud” Bruce. They enjoyed traveling, living at the beach, and surrounding themselves with family.
Throughout Betty’s life she developed many lifelong friends. She held all her friends close to her heart. Betty’s family is grateful to all that supported her through the years. Each of you brought enjoy to her.
