C. Peter "Chubby" Dinon of Oxford, Pennsylvania passed away at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was 83 years old. Born at home, on Schoolhouse Road in Kennett Square, he was the son of the late Costante Dinon and Fannie Maraldo Dinon.
Chubby was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was on the Adoration Team and active in RCIA, Past President of the Italian American Club in Kennett Square and member of the Optimist Club.
Chubby started working at a young age with his father in the mushroom industry where he continued to work as a mushroom grower for over 20 years. Following the mushroom business, Chubby worked in various industries such as construction, agriculture, and maintenance, but his true love was farming. He spent many years bailing hay and planting corn and soybeans. Chubby retired at age 75 as a heavy equipment operator but continued to work part-time until he was 80.
His love of farming poured into his yard at home where he could be found a few times a week on his lawnmower, leading him to have the best lawn in the neighborhood. He took immense pride in his meticulous lawn and flower beds. Chubby’s green thumb also led to a plentiful vegetable garden each year.
Also known as Pop Pop Chubby, his grandchildren and great grandchild were the loves of his life, and he could not have been prouder of each of them.
He was the beloved husband of Eileen Caputo Dinon; father of Peter D. Dinon, Christopher M. Dinon (Lisa Bopp) and Kelly D. Jones (Ken); grandfather of Elizabeth Cojan (Andrei), Ryan Jones, Zachary Jones, Isabella Dinon and the late Helen Paige Dinon; great-grandfather of Andrei D. Cojan, Jr.; brother of the late Maria D. DePaoli. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with a Funeral Mass being offered at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 203 Church Road, Oxford, Pennsylvania. Burial will be private.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and announced.
