Carol was born in Stamford, CT in 1940. She and her family moved several times before settling in West Chester, PA, where she graduated from West Chester High School. After receiving a degree in English from the University of Delaware, she worked briefly at Aeroprojects until her marriage to Bill Bayles.
Bill and Carol lived for a brief time in SC, and returned to Phoenixville, PA, where Carol resumed her education. She graduated from the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism in Philadelphia and thoroughly enjoyed her work at Flanagan Advertising until she retired in Malvern, PA.
Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed time with close friends, knitting, crafting, and scouring local flea markets to find antique furniture to refinish. Later in life, she spent countless hours researching family history and genealogy.
Carol was always curious. She loved a good drive, a good pizza, and a good philosophical conversation in which “all the worlds’ problems were solved" – or at least, discussed in depth. As dementia stripped so much of who she had been, it also revealed an easy softness - adoring, light, and FUNNY!
Predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Byron Jones, she is survived by daughter, Suzanne (San Jose, CA), son, Steven, and granddaughter, Sydnie (Downingtown, PA), her sister, Linda Caughey (Ithaca, NY), as well as Linda’s children and grandchildren.
Later this summer, extended family will gather in Bethany Beach, DE to celebrate Carol’s life.
