Charles Kevin Kelly of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away on November 19, 2023. He was 72 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kevin was the son of the late Barbara (nee Yahr) Kelly and the late Charles J. Kelly. In addition to his parents, Kevin is also predeceased by his sister, Carol Rodgers (Jack).
Kevin was a 1969 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School. In 1971, he joined the U.S. Navy Reserve and was activated to serve aboard the USS Fairfax County during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge and service to the Country, Kevin went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Widener College in Chester, PA in 1979. Kevin worked for State Farm Insurance as an underwriter and retired after 43 years of dedicated service. Kevin enjoyed being involved in his children’s lives and was proud of everything they did (which usually included a t-shirt, hat and mug showing that support). He introduced and encouraged all of his kids to participate in sports and helped manage an Avon Grove Little League team. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved playing sports himself, such as basketball, softball, ice hockey and golf. He especially enjoyed hiking Mount Washington and spending time in Long Lake, New York. Pop Pop Kelly cherished spending time with his grandchildren and fit right in acting like a big kid himself. He was a huge fan of music (and singing off-key), reading, anything related to history, and visiting National Parks and historic sites. Those who knew him will remember him for his intelligence, one liners/quick wit and appetite for adventure/experiences.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth “Betsy” (nee Wilkie) Kelly; his children, Kristine Jensen (Jan), Kathlene Brown (Alex), Kimberly Kelly (Aaron Smith) and Kevin Kelly (Bridget). Kevin is also survived by his grandchildren, Lukas Jensen, Dexter Jensen, Alexandra Kelly, Alice Brown, Eliza Kelly and Henry Kelly; brother, Mark Kelly and sister, Sharon Egleston (Mark), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
