Christel E. Pehl of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2024 at her home. Christel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Born February 7, 1930 outside of Berlin, Germany, she enjoyed the beauty of the countryside before her family moved to the city. As a child, Christel experienced the ravages of World War II but did not let those experiences stop her from creating a beautiful and fulfilling life.
After the war, Christel met and married Joachim “Joe” Pehl who became the love of her life. Their marriage took place September 6, 1952, in Berlin, Germany. A few years later the couple made the difficult decision to emigrate to the United States with their young daughter Kordula. Christel worked hard to help her family adjust to their new country, and within a few years Christel and Joe welcomed their second daughter, Doris, to the family.
Christel and Joe raised their two girls in Newtown Square, PA where Christel had a long and successful career as a hairdresser. Outside of the salon Christel enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, gardening, exercise classes, and the company of her beloved family dogs.
Christel was known for her strong work ethic, positive outlook on life, strength and determination, and love of good desserts. Above all else she was deeply devoted to her family.
Christel was the loving wife of the late Joachim Pehl; mother of Kordula C. Moore-Geesaman (Dennis) and the late Doris Petersen (Brad); Oma of Gregory Cimino (Jennifer) and Nikki Clauser (Brock) Also survived by two great grandchildren, Lucas and Emily.
