Clara Dunlap passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was 88 years old. Born in West Chester, Clara was the daughter of late Pancrazio DiAndrea and the late Maria Scacchia DiAndrea.
Clara was a 1955 graduate of Kennett High Schol. A lifelong resident of Kennett Square, Clara knew all and cared for all with whom her path crossed. Along with her husband, Chickie and his mother, owned and operated Joseph Leo Mushroom Soil Company for more than 50 years. She enjoyed her many trips to Italy. First with her parents by boat and later with family for weeks at a time. There are so many fond memories, including the family trip there in 2005. Clara was devout Catholic and a life member of St. Patrick Church, where she gave much love and knowledge as to the history of the Parish. She was known for baking her "Easter Bread" for the Parish Bake Sale, when as many as 130 loaves were made! She cooked in the Rectory for the clergy and helped with "hot lunch" in the school cafeteria, where many knew her as "Mom-Mom". Anyone who knew Clara can remember the cooking, making of her sauce, baking almost everything, including those pizzelles! Most of all, her greatest passion was her family and her grandchildren. Her life was well lived and now she is at rest.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur "Chickie" Dunlap who died in 1997; beloved mother of Erica Marianelli and Dawn Hopkins; grandmother of Alyson Marianelli, Sarah Marianelli and Kyle Hopkins; great grandmother of Amaya Hopkins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Artilio Joseph DiAndrea, Sr. and Lydia Blevins.
A viewing will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 4, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery will follow.
