Donald E. VanSickle

Donald E. VanSickle, age 59, passed away at the Henry Ford Hospice in Detroit, Michigan on July 24, 2018, after a long battle with illness.   He was born on December 13, 1958 in Ferndale, Michigan to Donald J. VanSickle and Patricia Brehl VanSickle. 

After living his childhood life in Michigan, the family moved to Pennsylvania where Donald graduated Sun Valley High School in June of 1978.  After graduation he pursued a degree in Electro-Mechanical Drafting & Design and graduated from the American Institute of Drafting in Philadelphia.

After graduation, he worked as a control and damage draftsman at Philadelphia Navy Yard until its closing.  He continued in his field after re-locating to and working at Huntington Ingalls Ship Yard in Mississippi where he resided many years prior to retiring to Twining, Michigan. 

In his free time Donald enjoyed trying his luck at the casinos in Pascagoula, Mississippi as well as fishing and cooking for himself with recipes we'll never know about.  His love for farming and hunting continued when returning to Michigan and enjoying his retirement with relatives and old friends.

Donald was predeceased by his father, Donald J. VanSickle.

He was the beloved son of Patricia A. Van Sickle of West Chester, PA; brother of Susan Slezak (Ted) of West Chester PA, Sharon White (Wade) of Linwood, PA, Dora Lee Campbell (Walt) of Aston PA and Edward  Van Sickle (Rosann) of Swathmore PA.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  This celebration is not only to remember Donnie in a special way but also to remember his Dad on what would of been his 85th birthday.  For he was such a special part of Donnie's life.

Per the wishes of the family, burial will be private.
