Doris Jean Mayes

Doris Jean Mayes passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Morningside House in Laurel, Maryland.  She was 91 years old.

Born in Collingdale, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, "Jean" was the daughter of Harry Freeman Leighton and Ollie Cawthon Leighton.

She was the beloved wife of the late Howard F. Mayes; mother of Phyllis Lynn Mayes (James Smith), Barbara Jo Pollock (John) and Hugh Leighton Mayes; grandmother of Andrew Mayes, Eric Mayes, Christopher Pollock and Evan Pollock.  She was predeceased by her brother, Harry Leighton, Jr.

Jean said, "I was a wife, mom, grandmom and friend to anyone.  I like people".  She was proud of her work as a secretary for PA State Senator G. Robert Watkins.

Burial in Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery will be private.
