Doris Mae Stillman
Doris Mae Stillman died Friday, January 20, 2023, in Lebanon, Tennessee. She was born February 21,1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Sydney and Mabel Gill and grew up in Norwood.
After graduating from Glen-Nor High School, Doris married William "Bill" Stillman of Folsom, on June 19, 1953. They were married for 68 years until he passed away in February 2022. Moving more than 30 times, she created homes for her family in 7 states and even a year in China. Doris was a person of many talents. Beginning with learning to play the piano, she became an expert seamstress and an avid watercolor artist. She loved games and played tennis well into her 80's. She was known as the "Teapot Lady." Perhaps due to the influence of her English parents, she collected hundreds of teapots and would give traditional tea parties for friends and small groups. Doris became a follower of Christ as a child. As an adult she served through her church in many ways and started neighborhood Bible clubs for children. She loved to talk about her faith with others. Doris had a gift for hospitality, shown especially by opening her home to international students. As a member of the Gideons Auxiliary, she never missed an opportunity to give someone a Bible.
Doris Stillman is survived by her 5 children; Edward Stillman (Karen), Peter Stillman (Jennie), Douglas Stillman (Yingchi), Curtis Stillman (Becky), and Crystal Stillman; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be from 12:30PM until 1:00PM with a memorial service at 1:00PM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Burial will be private in Philadelphia Memorial Park.
