Dorothy A. Verna, 79, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on December 21, 2023.
Dorothy was born in Philadelphia, to Antonio and Anna (Salinsky) Laucella on July 31, 1944. She graduated from West Catholic Girls High School.
Before retiring in 2006, Dorothy worked as an Underwriting Assistant for State Farm Insurance for over 20 years. Dorothy had also worked at Clover department store where she met lifelong friends and the love of her life, Ken Verna.
Anyone who knew Dorothy knew not to be misled by her small stature, she was an incredibly sweet yet strong woman who courageously overcame many challenges and admirably raised 3 resilient children.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ron Laucella and Anthony Laucella.
Dorothy is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Ken; daughter, Dawn Montgomery; sons, Chuck Montgomery (Cathy) and Scott Montgomery (Leigh); grandchildren, John Preston (Allison), Tom Preston (Kristen), Ryan Montgomery, Chase Montgomery, Reese Montgomery, Brian Montgomery, Jack Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Aoife Preston and John Preston III.
Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church, 8910 Gap Newport Pike, Avondale, PA where relatives and friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial private.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children's Hospital OR Shriners Hospitals for Children would be appreciated.
