Dr. Curtis Donald Froehlich passed away at home, surrounded by loving family and friends, on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was 47 years old.
Curt dedicated much of his life to helping others, especially his patients and his family. Curt was funny, driven, devoted, and kind. He especially enjoyed time with his wife, his family and friends, his beloved pets, and his tractor.
Curt married the love of his life, Kendra in 2009. She was his world and they were truly soulmates.
Curt attended The University of Kansas and graduated in 1997. He went on to attend The University of Kansas School of Medicine where he graduated in 2001. He did his pediatric residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, and his fellowship in pediatric critical care at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

His appointment was distinguished by a selfless devotion to the pursuit and advancement of ECMO education both locally and internationally. In honor of his commitment, and in an effort to expand ECMO education globally, the Dr. Froehlich Travel Education Award was established to support individuals with limited financial resources who are committed to medical education and to improving ECMO care.
Born in Cook County, Illinois, he was the son of Donald Froehlich and Patricia Downey Froehlich. In addition to his parents, Curt is survived by his wife, Kendra; his brother, Christian (Stephannie); his beloved pets, Harley Gene, Emmet Ebenezer, Enzo Jefferson, Finnegan the Fearless and many other loving family and friends.
