October 1, 1942

Obituary

Edward V. Carrington, age 83 of Kennett Square, PA, passed away December 13, 2025 in West Chester, PA, after a long battle with dementia.

He was born October 1, 1942, in San Francisco, CA, to Helen C. and Clare E. Carrington.

After graduating from San Jose State University and a year studying law at UC Berkeley, Ed joined Radiant Color, which was purchased by the global chemical company, Hercules in 1969. For four decades, in various roles and locations, Ed passionately served Hercules, ultimately retiring as Vice President of Human Resources. Throughout his life, he also owned various travel and vacation businesses and also served as a trustee for Christiana Care.

After retirement, Ed, and his loving wife, Barbie, traveled the world. They also generously shared their love with many dogs, cats and fish! At a point when many homes tend to grow empty, Ed and Barbie opened theirs to many international students, all of whom became loving members of the Carrington family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbie Carrington, his sister, Janis Carrington Ferrell, children Steve Carrington (Maria), Aundria Hicks Carrington (Joe), Janet Kartanos (Pete), Lauren Cahall (Travis), Rachel Taylor (Eric), and Mark Johnson Hoagland.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael, Katlyn, Michael, Victoria, Dexter, Ava, Lily, Leif, Poppy, Alex, and Amanda and great grandchildren Jonathan, Riley, and Gemma.

A celebration of life will be held in mid 2026. Donations may be made to Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue , Northeast Pry Rescue , Castaway Cats in Delaware and Collie Rescue of the Carolinas, causes close to the family’s heart.
