Francis G. Rossi, age 66, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. Born on June 26, 1959 in Drexel Hill, he was the son of the late Francis A. Rossi and Marian Rossi (nee Welsh).
A lifelong employee of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, Francis began a distinguished career in 1981, managing multiple locations throughout Delaware and Chester counties. As he developed a true passion for wine, his studies led him to the position of luxury wine coordinator, where he traveled the globe to enrich and further his knowledge. Tasked with educating his fellow coordinators in wines and spirits, Francis had a profound impact on his peers, shaping many careers and fostering lifelong relationships with wine vendors and producers.
An avid sports fan, Francis was a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles for many years at Veterans Stadium, while also enjoying numerous NASCAR races in Dover, Delaware, the Pocono Mountains and the former Nazareth Speedway. Whether it was slugging for the Baptist Bombers, throwing darts for the team at Skippy’s, or trying to keep up with his son on ice skates, Francis loved the thrill of sport and to share that love with his friends and family.
After retiring to western Chester County, he enjoyed bonding with his border collies, Maggie, Bubbles, Freckles, Dale and the late Minnie. Settling into the rich farmlands, he took pride in building a small slice of paradise for his dogs and chickens to enjoy, while entertaining the neighbors’ fleet of cows and livestock. He spent much of his time perfecting his craft on the grill and enjoying his extensive wine collection.
Francis was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth and Marlene. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Anthony; his sisters, Kathleen (Ronald), Janet and Marian; his stepdaughters, Deaven and Madison (Jason) and his grandson, James.
