George C. Bellenger, Jr., age 99 of Jennersville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Unionville, PA and Carcroft, DE, died February 27, 2026 at his home.
He was born in Gadsden, Alabama, son of George C. Bellenger, Sr. and Corrie Sitz Bellenger.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Hubbard Bellenger; daughter, Baily Cypress of Bala Cynwyd, PA; sons, George, III of Key West, FL and James Thomas of Newark, DE.
He was a three year veteran of World War II, serving in the 106th, 1st, and 88th Infantry Divisions in France, Germany and Italy.
He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1952 and for the DuPont Company for 35 years as a construction and plant engineer, an applied mathematician and systems manager. These assignments were at the Savannah River Plant (SC), Richmond Rayon Plant (VA), Chattanooga Nylon Plant (TN 2x), Chambers Works (NJ 2x) and in the Wilmington offices (3x).
After retirement from DuPont, he was employed by Wilmington University as Dean of Arts and Sciences, where he taught math and physics. Earlier he was an adjunct professor at the University of Chattanooga and Delaware Technical College. HE was president of Carcroft Elementary PTA and Mt. Pleasant Middle School PTA.
His hobbies included sports, bridge, reading and dogs (His wife, an artist, breeds and shows Norwich Terriers). He was President of the National Norwich/Norfolk Terrier Club. He was a Commissioner of the North Brandywine Youth Baseball League and Green Acres team manager. He was vice president of the Mount Pleasant Youth Football Association where he coached the "70 Pounders". At age 75, he began skydiving as a birthday celebration for several years. Also, during that time, he did hand gliding, both "power and foot" launches.
He belonged to Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, DuPont Country Club, Army and Navy Club (Washington D.C.) and Brandywine Naamans Rotary Club, where he served as President in 1985-86. George was listed in "Who's Who" in Science and Engineering in 1996-97.
Services and burial was private.
