Obituary

 George F, Gray of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024.  He was 87 years old.  George was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on September 12, 1936. He was the son of Raymond Gray and Grace Alkire Gray.  He is survived by his sister, Sharon Peterson, his son Dan Gray and wife Jacqui, daughter Kelly Skinner and husband Tom, and son Steven Gray and his wife Jennifer.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Ashley Ntonga and husband Vusi, Tommy Skinner and wife Brittany, Lauren McGinley and husband Patrick, Abigail Golio and husband Andrew, Christopher Skinner, and Andrew Gray and his fiancé Lexi Colgan.  He was fortunate to see two great grandchildren’s births, Thomas Skinner and Charlie McGinley. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Lee and Bonnie Camp and his wife of twenty-nine years, Molly Gray. 

George served in the army from 1960-1963.  He had a career as an electronic technician, working on computer systems for a variety of companies.  His hobbies included playing the stock market and buying real estate that included rehabbing houses and then reselling them.  He was a resident of Kennett Friends Home since 2020.  He enjoyed going to exercise class daily with his buddy, Ed.  He liked getting together for family and holiday celebrations, and particularly enjoyed eating dessert, especially ice cream and cheesecake. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed joking around with his family and friends.  He loved seeing pictures of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and hearing about what was going on in their lives.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in George’s name to the Kennett Friends Home (note: Elevator Fund) co/147 W. State Street, Kennett Square, Pa 19348.  This fund specifically is for the construction and installation of a larger elevator on the premises for those residents who use walkers, canes, and wheelchairs. It will also help EMS services as they care for the residents.

A private celebration of George’s life will occur with his extended family.
