Gregory Swoyer Obituary

Gregory Paul Swoyer, 67, of Downingtown, PA , passed away on November 16, 2020 at Seasons Hospice after two weeks in Penn Medicine - Chester County Hospital.

Son of Lydia and Paul Swoyer, Gregory is survived by his Love for 25 years, Jill Gochanour.

He is also survived by his older brother, William Swoyer & Pam of Epsom, NH, and nephew, Jeremy and niece, Laura

as well as his younger sister, Paula Swoyer Keperling & Kip of Lititz, PA, and nephews, Brent and Matthew.

His longtime close friend is Glenn Phillips. As Greg liked to say, “Glenn is a brother from another mother.”

As a young boy Gregory began to love baseball as a very good pitcher.

He was a graduate of Downingtown High School, and worked at Pepperidge Farm.

A self-taught creative picture framer, Gregory framed art prints of Wildlife, Landscapes, Americana, Fantasy, Aviation, and Native American Art.

Max, his adopted large Tabby cat, kept him company while he was working.

Gregory really loved music, from Elton John to Neil Diamond to Michael Jackson, and especially great guitar playing from Eric Clapton to Lindsay Buckingham to Jimi Hendrix.

He loved baseball (especially the Phillies), golf, and horse racing. Two of his favorite artists were Robert Bateman, painter of the natural world, and Howard Terpning, “Storyteller of the Native American People.”

From hummingbirds to butterfly bushes to all kinds of animals, Greg loved all of Nature. Especially at this time of year, he loved going to Longwood Gardens with Jill to see the beautiful Christmas trees and flower displays and afterward listen to Longwood’s organists play Christmas music as everyone sings along in the ballroom.

Because of the Covid crisis, there will be no funeral services at this time.  Plans will be made at a later date.
