Educated in Chester County, Pennsylvania, Guilford graduated from the Westtown School (PA) and furthered his education at the Philadelphia College of Art, where he studied design, costumes and stage.  It was at this time, he took the chance and moved to New York City.  A big move for a small town Quaker boy.  He was accepted at the Neighborhood Playhouse, where he studied under the tutelage of Sanford Meisner and Martha Graham.  With this, Guil began working in the early television years at Studio One, Playhouse 90, Lamp unto My Feet and Omnibus.  He was a leading man performing with the Palm Tree Playhouse (PA), Bucks County Playhouse (PA), Weathervane Theatre (NH), Pasadena Playhouse (CA), Pancake Playhouse (CA) and Hedgerow Theatre (PA).  Guil settled in Philadelphia and started his own theatre company, Group Theatre East.  It was this group, that many outstanding award winning productions were performed such as, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Diary of Anne Frank, Boys in the Band, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Fantastics, A Hatful of Rain and Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.  During this time also, Guil was an actor/director in local area dinner theatres; Downingtown Dinner Theatre, City Line Dinner Theatre, Riverfront Dinner Theatre and the Inn of the Falls Dinner Theatre.  He would later branch out to other dinner theatres throughout the country.  He was proud to have performed at the American Shakesphere Festival (CT).  Guil’s final roles were performed back in New York City, where he acted, performed and directed on Broadway and continued his television work, namely Law and Order and several full length independent productions, where he played opposite such luminaries as Kim Hunter, Jessica Tandy, Lee Grant, William Conrad Anne Jeffries and Steve McQueen.  He remained an active theatre artist well in to his 80’s!  During his life, he made his home in Malvern (PA), Hollywood (FL), Whitefield (NH), Philadelphia (PA) and Sarasota (FL).

He is survived by his brother, Henry Fisher of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
