Henry "Hank" Fisher

April 6, 1936

Obituary

Henry Vernon Fisher died peacefully on May 30, 2025 at his home in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his family and having lived a full and wonderful life.  He was 89 years old.

Henry was born a Quaker in Philadelphia on April 6, 1936 and was the son of Guilford Dudley Fisher and Frances Howell Marvel Fisher.

Henry spent the first 10 years of his life in West Chester then the family moved to Villanova in 1949.  He graduated from Radnor High where he made lifelong friends.  Following in his brother Frank's footsteps, he attended Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business.  He went on to represent the third generation of ownership at Fisher & Son Company alongside Frank.  He worked in both the Lincoln University and Malvern offices.  Henry retired in 1999 but continued serving on the Board and never missing a meeting his entire life.  He was an athlete and avid sports lover.  While at Radnor High, Henry played football, baseball and was on the championship basketball team.  During his time at Radnor, he had the opportunity to cover Wilt Chamberlain where Henry shared that in a defensive maneuver he cleverly held onto Wilts shorts.  He loved the Eagles and had season tickets for many years.  He played squash, racquetball, tennis and golf, proudly scoring three hole-in-one’s.  For many years, Henry participated in Brian’s Run and “Bike to the Shore” benefit riding his bike from Philadelphia to Atlantic City.  He was a proud Veteran having served his country in the Army Reserves for five years. Sharp and alert with a flawless memory, he had a lifelong love of puzzles and word games, numbers, math and statistics. He loved music (especially 50’s music), telling jokes, playing bingo and always had a kind word for those who crossed his path.  Henry spent most of his summers at the “Jersey Shore”. Ocean City as a child, Stone Harbor with his young family and later buying a home in Avalon where the family made precious memories enjoying numerous summers together. He loved reading on the beach, body surfing the waves and walking the shoreline later in the evenings.

He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Margie of 53 years with whom he created a loving blended family.  He is survived by his children and stepchildren; Anne (Debbie) Fisher, Cynthia Fisher, James (Jade) Fisher, Richard (Connie) Halsey, Tammie Davis and Timothy (Elaine) Halsey.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason (Brittany) Davis, Sarah (Troy) St. John, Jared (Inna) Davis, Geoffrey Pezzone, Sebastian Fisher and Isabelle Fisher, along with three great-grandchildren.  He was a dearly beloved patriarch to all his family.

In addition to his parents, Henry was predeceased by his brothers, Guilford and Frank.
