Hilda Riga Fiore

Hilda Riga Fiore, formerly of Centreville, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Natick, MA. She was 92.

Hilda was born on November 3, 1931, to the late Emidio and Diamanda Carosi Riga, in Toughkenamen, PA. She graduated from Unionville High School and worked for the Bell Telephone Company. Hilda married Ralph J. Fiore, Sr. in 1958 and had two children, Gina and Ralph, Jr. She spent most of her life residing in Kennett Square, PA, and working in the family-owned mushroom business. The family moved to Centreville, DE, and resided there for many years.

Hilda was a devoted Catholic who loved to cook authentic Italian cuisine (especially her homemade ravioli and gnocchi), bake strawberry short cakes, garden, and make her famous pizzelles for her extended family. But most of all, she loved nothing more than spending time with her children at their summer home on the Jersey Shore.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina M. Fiore of Framingham, MA; her son, Ralph J. Fiore, Jr. and his wife Sallie of Clayton, NC; grandsons, Hunter and River Fiore; her sister Mary E. DiAngelis of Wilmington, DE; and nieces and nephew. In addition to her parents, Hilda was predeceased by her brother Nazzareno Riga and her sister Vera G. DiSante.

A viewing will be from 8:30AM until 10:00AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike in Kennett Square.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30AM at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith Street in Kennett Square.  Burial will follow the Mass in St. Patrick Cemetery, North Union Street, Kennett Square.
