In Loving Memory of Hugh J. Diamond

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh J. Diamond of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, who passed away on July 6, 2026 at the age of 79.  He previously lived in Kennett Square for over fifty years.

Hugh was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and cherished friend.  Born and raised in Philadelphia he was a proud graduate of West Catholic HS, St. Joseph’s University, Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania.

He moved to Kennett Square in 1972 to assist in building and bringing online Peach Bottom Nuclear Generating Station’s Units 2 and 3.  Throughout his distinguished career in nuclear energy at Exelon, he earned the respect of colleagues for his knowledge, leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the nuclear energy industry.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Hugh was known for his integrity, kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family.  He enjoyed playing his guitar and spent his early years as a rock and roll icon. He was a formidable softball, tennis and volleyball player.

Hugh leaves behind his beloved wife, Becky, along with his children, Mark (Jordana) and Sean (Lauren); grandchildren, Luke and Lily and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Hugh's life will be held at a later date.
