Jason "JJ" Ruszin Obituary

Jason Jesse Ruszin of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away tragically as a result of an automobile accident on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2023.  He was 18 years old.  Born in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Jason Michael Ruszin and Heather Murray Ruszin.

Jason Jesse Ruszin was affectionately known as “JJ” to family and friends alike.  He had just completed his first semester at Penn State University, where he was majoring in Business Marketing with aspirations in Real Estate.  Like most boys, he loved sports.  At the tender age of four he set his mind on achieving a black belt in Karate by age eight.  From little league to travel ball, JJ had a passion for baseball.  Playing several years for Avon Grove School District, he later pursued volleyball in his senior year.  Additionally, for the past 13 years, he loved snowboarding and enjoyed online gaming with a tight-knit group of friends, many of whom he’d known since the 4th grade.

JJ had caring, loving, and easy-going relationships with both family and friends throughout his life.  Both his endearing dimples and infectious laugh would captivate everyone around him.  His love for family vacations, especially to destinations like Aruba and Turks and Caicos Islands were among his favorites.  Described as selfless and uplifting by his friends, JJ never hesitated to be inclusive of others.  He left unforgettable positive impacts on those around him.  His selflessness extended to volunteering alongside his mother for Every Child Counts Non-Profit.

JJ was an amazing son, brother, family member and friend to so many.  JJ never missed an opportunity to say “I love you” or give you an affectionate hug.  His love for life led him to find laughter at every opportunity.  We couldn’t be prouder of the boy he once was and the man he recently became.  He embodied all the virtues we sought to instill in him.  His untimely passing at the age of 18 has forever changed our lives but we take solace in knowing he holds a special place in all our hearts.

In addition to his loving parents, Jason and Heather Ruszin, he is survived by sister, Jalyn Ruszin; grandparents, Michael and Carol Ruszin; his Aunt Debbie Howland and many other uncles, aunts and cousins.
