Joanne Hood Patton

 Mother, Grandmother, Friend and Teacher 

Joanne H. Patton of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania passed away at the Friends Home in Kennett Square on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025.  She was 92 years old. 

Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Hood and the late Norma Hood.  Joanne lived in West Grove and graduated from Avon Grove High School.  She then attended West Chester University and received her degree in teaching. Joanne would then teach elementary school which was a passion of hers.

She met her beloved late husband, Charles F. Patton and they married on July 19,1955 and lived in Unionville where they raised their 5 children.  Joanne loved flowers and gardening.  She was an active member in the local garden club. Joanne was also an active member of the Avondale Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed playing the organ and teaching Sunday school.  She loved Topsail, North Carolina where she would vacation in the summer with her family.

She was the beloved mother of Charles (Rick) Patton, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, Nancy Patton and her husband, John Leible , Amy Patton, Rebecca (Becky) Schultz and her husband, Brian and John Patton; grandmother of Sean and Devon Patton, Christine and Carolyn Sirles, Jaime, Aiden and Owen Patton-Martin, Ben, William and Declan Schultz .

A funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the AVONDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 420 Pennsylvania Avenue, Avondale, Pennsylvania.  Visitation and a reception will follow the service in the church hall.  Burial in New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery will be private.
