Joseph Lloyd Shoestock
February 24, 1965 – November 7, 2022
Joseph Shoestock, age 57, passed away suddenly at his home in Cape May County, New Jersey. Joe was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania to Joseph John Shoestock and Joanne Elizabeth Shoestock. He attended East High School and Bishop Shanahan High School. Joe was a graduate of truck driver training and obtained his Commercial Drivers License. He was a talented trim carpenter, employed by J. K. Bagatta Building & Design and then on his own as a self-employed carpenter. He was a long-term supervisor at Paterson, New Jersey’s major metalworks company.
But Joe’s true love was commercial fishing. He was employed by Lund’s Fisheries in Cape May, and then relocated to Marathon, Florida and continued commercial fishing in the Florida Keys, also training to captain his own vessel. And for fun, more fishing! Not long ago, an unforgettable excursion with Florida cousin George.
Joe, or Joey, as some called him, was kind and generous, with a friendly ease that made you feel well-liked. He was “good company.” He had an incredible love of music and animals. He enjoyed collecting vintage record albums, music memorabilia, coins and vintage and antique collectables. Joe loved Jerry Garcia’s music and the Grateful Dead.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Shoestock. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Shoestock Silver, his sister Joanna Shoestock (Jack Hyatt), sister Sharon Bagatta (John Bagatta), nephews Michael Bagatta, John Bagatta, Jr. and William Larer, Jr., his aunt Rexanne Morrow, his cousin George Morrow, several great nieces and nephews, and his beloved friend, Meghan Gleba. Joe is survived by former wife, Cynthia Ihlenfeld and her children, Shara, Brian and Alisha.
