Joseph Zultanski Obituary

Joseph S. Zultanski, passed away peacefully in Lancaster, PA on January 17, 2022 at the age of 91.  Joe was the beloved husband of the late E. Barbara (Baker) Zultanski who passed away in 1975.

Born in Philadelphia, Joe was the son of the late Joseph Louis and Josephine (Sosinski) Zultanski. He was a longtime resident of Philadelphia, PA. Cinnaminson, NJ and Pennsauken, NJ.

In the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia, where Joe was raised, he was known as “Star” for his success as the shortstop for the local league’s baseball team. He was seen daily carrying his gear to and from the local fields to practice and play. Continuing as a talented and gifted baseball player, he was signed to a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies Farm team, playing in the infield and outfield.  Joe enlisted in 1949 and served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1956.  Joe was an outgoing and informative Pep Boys store manager in the Kensington and Mayfair sections of Philadelphia for over 25 years. He and his store were the go-to automotive store for trusted car advice for as he would say “before computers did the thinking”.  After he retired, he revealed his hidden creative and artistic skills and established and opened a family business, EZ Ceramics in Pennsauken, NJ.

At home, Joe was a quiet and reserved man who enjoyed taking care of his beautiful lawn and gardens and listening to the Phillies on the radio. In his early years, he enjoyed Thursday night dinners out with his wife at “The Pub”, vacations in Wildwood, NJ and Sunday afternoons at Holiday Lakes.

Joseph is survived by his daughters, Barbara Idler (Chuck) of Phoenix, AZ, Kathi Hrapczynski (Rich) of West Grove, PA and Juliana Lynch (Chris) of Portland, OR. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Laura, Melissa and Elizabeth and 3 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jovie and Iona.  He was predeceased by his grandson, Michael.
