Obituary

In Loving Memory

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Anthony DeMaio Sr., fondly known as Joe, Joe D, and Pop, on March 18, 2025, at the age of 77.  He was surrounded by his beloved children and grandchildren at the time of his passing.

Joe was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his generous spirit.  He was known for his selflessness, his sense of humor, his leadership and wisdom, and his ability to bring joy and calm to those around him.

Joe was pre-deceased by his wife love of his life Lynne (Moran), and his parents Marie and Anthony DeMaio.

He is survived by his children, Tricia Appelbaum (Bill), Michelle DeMaio, Joseph DeMaio Jr., and Diana Wirth (Josh), who will forever cherish their time together, the conversations they had, their hopes and dreams for the future, the laughs they shared, and his uncanny ability to make light of nearly any situation.  Also survived are his grandchildren, William (Billy) Appelbaum, Anthony DeMaio, Alec (AJ) Appelbaum, Chelsea Appelbaum, Devon Drummond, Aubrey DeMaio, and Vincent (Vinnie) DeMaio, Hayden Wirth, Cooper Wirth, and great-granddaughter Willow DeMaio.  They held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments, antics, and the unique relationships he had formed with each of them.  In addition, Joe is survived by his sisters, Marie Murphy (Dennis), Barbara Carpenter (the late John), and Joann Baldridge.

Joe honorably served our Country in the United States Air Force.

Joe’s passions were traveling, the elevator industry, and caring for his family, including his best pal Tanner.  He loved taking Tanner to the local dog park and traveling to the most beautiful parts of the world with Lynne, specifically their homelands of Ischia, Italy and Santorini, Greece.

A nearly 50-year veteran of the elevator business; he was a born leader and served as a tough, but fair manager and a trusted mentor to countless co-workers over his career.  He most recently served as the Vice President of Sales for Kencor Elevator Systems in West Chester, PA.

Throughout his life, Joe touched the lives of many with his compassion and wisdom. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family but also for his impact on his profession. His absence leaves a huge void that will be felt by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. In honor of Joe's memory, they invite you to celebrate his life and the many moments of joy he brought into the world.

We will strive to honor his legacy. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
