Julia "Judy" Francis Needham

Julia "Judy" Francis Needham passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Jenner's Pond.  She was 89 years old.  Born on July 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Jewell and Minerva Young.

Judy is survived by her husband, Donald “Buster” Needham. They were high school sweethearts that celebrated 69 years of marriage.  She is the beloved mother of Linda Felty (Rodney), Artie (Barbie) and Don (fiancé, Eva Marie); 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  She was a dearly loved Mom, Nana and “Super” Nana.

Judy enjoyed music, puzzles, and hosting family and friends for dinners/parties.  She loved Christmas Eve with her family.  Judy looked forward to her annual trip to Dewey Beach with her daughter and grandchildren for a week of fun and memories. She was a member of Avondale Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and a member of the Women’s Circle.  Judy was also a member of the YAG club and Chatham Community Club.  In her later years, she delivered hot meals for Meals on Wheels.

Thank you to Rustin Hall (Jenner’s Pond) and Willow Tree Hospice for all your compassion and care over the past 3 years. Thank you also to the dedicated friends who stopped by regularly to visit with mom.

In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother, Tom Young

A viewing will be from 9:00AM to 11:00AM with a funeral service at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at AVONDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 420 Pennsylvania Avenue, Avondale.  A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall and burial will be private in New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
