Karen Ruth (Pitts) Fitchett was born in Lexington, KY on October 21, 1962 and, with the exception of a year in London, England, lived her entire life in and around Unionville, Pennsylvania. Karen’s diverse professional background (nurse, entrepreneur, administrator, human resource leader), personal experiences as a cancer survivor, education and love for people enabled her to thrive as a professional counselor, coach, mentor and friend to many.
Most important to Karen, however, was her personal relationship with Jesus. Part of her daily “quiet time” included Psalm 27:4: One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
The last several months were difficult as she dealt with the harsh realities of cancer that reemerged, but she remained steadfast in her pursuit of her Lord and Savior and peacefully went to be with Him on January 31, 2025.
Karen is survived by her husband, Curt Fitchett; her parents, Joseph and Virginia Pitts; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Tony Offutt; her brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Paige Pitts; nieces and nephews, Tommy, Tait, Hannah, Joe, Daniel, Emily and Katelyn. Emily and Katelyn as well as many others lovingly called her "Aunt Karen".
A graveside burial will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Unionville Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square (across from the fire station and post office in Unionville). A celebration of Karen's life will follow at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Brandywine Valley Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Road, Wilmington, Delaware. Visitation with the family will follow the service at the church. All are welcome to attend both services.
