Kathleen Noonan Hanby, 89, of Exton, Pennsylvania, formerly of Kennett Square, passed away after a short illness on September 11, 2024.
Kathleen was born May 22, 1935, in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from Conrad High School in 1953. She was very athletic and played basketball, field hockey, and softball for Conrad. She worked for the DuPont Company which supported her husband, Joseph, through college. She also played on DuPont’s basketball team.
She was a loving mother to five wonderful children and was blessed with eleven grandchildren, and two great granddaughters. She was a Domestic Engineer by occupation, an avid tennis player at the Kennett Square Country Club, and even won a Delaware State doubles bowling championship with a neighbor. She volunteered at Chester County Court House, the Unionville High School Library, and was a mentor and tutor for local high-risk children.
Kathleen enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, going to the beach, and most importantly being in the presence of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Noonan, her mother, Catherine Noonan, her husband, Joseph Hanby, II, her granddaughter, Ashleigh Lackey, her sisters-in-law, Janet Johnson, Patrice Noonan, and her nephews, James Johnson and Shane Noonan.
She is survived by all her children, her daughter, Colleen Hanby and her sons, Casey Lackey and Westley Lackey. Her son, Joseph Hanby III and his wife (Lee) and daughter, Sarah Kromer, her husband (Chad) and daughters: Olivia and Madeline. Her son, David Hanby and his wife (Michel) and daughter Heather. Her daughter, Linda Greim and her husband (Timothy) and children: Thomas, Christoper, Daniel, and Meghan. Her daughter, Karen Berube and her husband (Michael) and children: Zachary, Ella, and Owen.
She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Noonan: his son Shane’s daughters: Alyssa, Kylie, and Samantha and his daughter, Kristen Marra and her husband (Craig) and children: Sadie, Michael, and Mattea.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00AM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square. Inurnment in the St. Patrick Columbarium will follow the Funeral Mass.
