Kathryn Tuel-Gillem

Kathryn A. "Junie" Tuel-Gillem of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Naamans Creek Country Manor.  She was 79 years old.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Alfred James Weeks and the late Florence Slonaker.  Kathryn married George W. Tuel in 1957 until his passing in 1981.  Together, they had two daughters, Doreen and Karen.  Her family expanded with 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  She loved cooking for her family and friends, especially Steve M. and Liz T.  She was very active in her community.  A lifetime member of the Goshen Auxiliary for more than 50 years; OES#352, Tri-State Bird Rescue, Four Seasons Garden Club, just to name a few.

She married Tom Gillem at home in a small ceremony in 1986.  They met while driving school buses and discovered their mutual love for bowling.  Together, they participated in the Hoinke Tournament and Kathy in the womens leagues and Nationals all over the country.  Although Kathy and Tom had no children of their own, Tom loved her girls as if they were his own.  Kathy enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, playing pinochle, going to the casinos and would hardly miss bingo at the Kennett Area Senior Center.  

She was predeceased by her brother, Tommy Weeks and grandson, Michael Wilson.

She was the beloved wife for 32 years of Thomas L. Gillem, mother of Doreen Tuel and Karen Wilson; loving grandmother and great-grandmother.  She will be missed by her cats, Buffy and Soxy.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kennett Area Senior Center, 427 S. Walnut Street, Kennett Square, PA  19348.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 12:00PM with a memorial service at 12:00PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.

A luncheon will follow the memorial service at Chadds Ford Baptist Church, 415 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford.

Interment will be private.
