Obituary

Kyle Henry Dewees, 40, of Avondale, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, after a lengthy and courageous battle.

Born on August 20, 1985, in Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania, Kyle was the son of Donald Dewees and Sandra Evans Dewees.

Kyle was the beloved husband of Sara L. Dewees (née Holmes); proud stepfather of Wesley Pusey and Adley Pusey; brother of Shannon Umble (Jeremy); and uncle of Jennie Umble. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kyle was predeceased by his grandparents, I. Newton Evans Jr. and Evelyn (Pannebaker) Evans, as well as Jacob and Dorothy (Rohrbach) Dewees.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Heavy Construction Equipment Technology from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, working several years afterwards for Technivate in Landenberg.  Kyle found his true calling in life when he founded Whiskey Hollow Maple with his wife and children in 2015, spending the next 10 years building a successful and fulfilling business.  He was dedicated to his community, serving as a volunteer at the Warren Center Fire Company in Bradford County.  Kyle also held leadership positions as the former President of the PA Maple Syrup Producers Council and Vice President of the Endless Mountains Maple Syrup Producers Association. Always willing and ready to have a conversation about the maple industry to anyone who would listen.

Kyle enjoyed hiking, spending time outdoors, hunting, and Reese’s Cups. Sharing his love of nature, he took pride in teaching the kids to hunt, fish, and appreciate the outdoors. He was often proudly wearing goofy shirts and his humor always kept things lighthearted. Kyle had a carefree outlook on life and found joy in the simple things that many overlooked. Affectionately referred to as “Big Guy”, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
