Lauren Moss Obituary

Lauren Deanna Moss passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  She was 19 years old.

Born in York, Pennsylvania, Lauren was the daughter of Mindy Coverdale-Moss and Arthur Moss, Jr.  Lauren began her education in the Northeastern School District in York County, PA before her family returned to Chester County, where she was enrolled in the Kennett Consolidated School District.

Beginning at the age of four, Lauren remained involved in team sports, to include T-ball, basketball, soccer, and later, cross country and track.  Her high school track events included the 400 meter run, the 4x400 meter relay and the 800 meter run.

Lauren was a hard worker in addition to being an athlete and an honor student.  She held jobs as a waitress, hostess, babysitter, dog walker and runway model, receiving numerous awards at an international modeling competition held in Los Angeles, CA and modeling in New York Fashion Week, Philadelphia Fashion Week, and Main Line Fashion Week, among various other events.

Lauren graduated from Kennett High School in 2019 with honors.  Interested in pursuing a career as a physical therapist, she received acceptance at all of the universities she applied to in the hopes of achieving her dream: University of Delaware, The Ohio State University, Drexel University, University of Pittsburgh, Temple University, West Chester University and The Pennsylvania State University.

Her dream was deferred when she suffered a cerebellar hemorrhage in January 2019.  After being airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, she remained in the ICU there for three months before being transferred to the Nemours/AI Dupont Hospital for Children, where she remained in their in-patient rehabilitation program for three months.  At both hospitals, Lauren quickly became known for her quick wit, sarcastic humor and for being dedicated to her therapies.  She exceeded all medical expectations before her passing.

Lauren will be remembered most for her beautiful and infectious smile, her bold sense of humor, her boundless energy and for her love of family, friends, music, food, cooking, baking and dogs.

In addition to her parents, Lauren is survived by her sister, Gabrielle Burgos and her brother, Jaylen Moss; maternal grandparents, Vaughn and Joyce Coverdale; paternal grandparents, Sharron Mash and Arthur Moss, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Lauren’s family remains incredibly grateful for the abundant support of the family, friends, coaches, coworkers, neighbors and the school community, who have all supported them tremendously since the beginning of Lauren‘s medical incident and especially through this very difficult time.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM with a celebration of Lauren's life at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Longwood Funeral Home & Cremation of Matthew Genereux, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

The family requests that no flowers be sent.
