Lawrence Myron Stephens of Kennett Square passed away peacefully at his home on June 13, 2024. He was 90 years old. Born at home in Little Britain, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on October 22, 1933, he was the son of Granville Stephens and Belloneida Benjamin Stephens.
Larry was a 1951 graduate of Kennett High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably in the Military Police. Following his service, he began a 36 year career in the Security Department at Longwood Gardens. He was a LIFETIME member of the Po-Mar-Lin and Kennett Fire Companies and long time member of the East Lynn Grange, New London Gun Club and the Stone Harbor American Legion. Larry enjoyed all sports especially the Philadelphia Eagles, NASCAR and was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was the beloved husband of Frances Totham Stephens for 67 years; father of Linda Bowman (Brad) and John Stephens (Allison); grandfather of Lauren Martin (Daniel), Tyler Bowman Evelyn Juvonen and Nicholas Juvonen; great-grandfather of Penelope Martin, Gabrielle Martin and Kaylee Juvonen.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with a memorial service at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square. Burial will be private.
