James P. Weber (Lt. Col. ret.) of West Grove, Pennsylvania and formerly of Hartsdale, New York, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. He was 79 years old.
Born in Yonkers, New York, Jim was the son of the late Frank Weber and the late Muriel Haworth Weber. He was a 1964 graduate of Woodlands High School in Hartsdale, New York. Jim furthered his education with a bachelor degree from Bradley University and master's degree from North Dakota University. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force. He volunteered to go to Vietnam and served his Country honorably and with distinction. In his 22 years of service, Jim was stationed at the Pentagon, worked in Personnel, Missile Control Launch Officer, ROTC Instructor, Director of Manufacturing for the C-17 aircraft and Commander of the Defense Logistics Agency in Pittsburgh. He retired from active duty as a Lt. Colonel in 1990. As a civilian, Jim then moved on to work for Alcola, Illinois Water Treatment, IBS and Northrup Grumman.
After moving to West Grove (PA), Jim began volunteering at Longwood Gardens in the "rose department" and then later to the Maintenance Department, where he helped repair almost every building on the property. As a resident of the Ovations community, Jim served two terms on the Board, photographer of the Social Committee, Grounds Committee member and always helping with tables and chairs for the Social Committee events! He was a member of the West Grove Fire Company and the Fire Police. Jim was always willing to volunteer in order to better the lives of others. Most of all, he will be remembered for walking his rescued black standard poodle, "Bo" around Ovations.
He was the beloved husband of Jimi-Lee Van Praag Weber for 57 years, father of David Weber and Kevin Weber, both of Southern New Jersey; grandfather of Alexa, Emma and Liam; brother of Robert Weber and Susan Weber.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim's name to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
